WVU enrollment reaches record heights this term

 West Virginia University is enjoying record-high enrollment this semester, and officials say several factors are responsible.

Police investigate another shooting in D.C. area; 40-year-old bus driver killed

ASPEN HILL, Md. (AP) — A bus driver was shot and killed early Tuesday, and a police task force was investigating as if the shooting was related to the serial sniper who has killed nine people this month.

WVU trying to address housing issues

MORGANTOWN (AP) — West Virginia University is having growing pains.
The University has had a shortage of student housing for years, but it is worse this fall because a record-high 3,978 freshmen entered WVU, said Amir Mohammadi, WVU associate vice president of student affairs, administration, finance and technology.

orth Korea has admitted to having a nuclear program, and the Bush administration's professional response is surprising. It's good to see our officials using diplomatic means to solve the problem rather than military means. With North Korea disclosing its nuclear weapons program, the possibility of another pre-emptive strike seemed imminent.

Baraka retains title of poet laureate amidst controversy

NEW YORK (AP) — New Jersey poet laureate Amiri Baraka criticized Israeli and Jewish groups’ involvement in U.S. politics and reiterated that he would not give up his post as official state poet amid accusations of anti-Semitism. 
In a nearly hour-long monologue and question-and-answer session Thursday at the Bowery Poetry Club, Baraka struck back at critics, saying he wanted to know “why the Anti-Defamation League is not registered as an agent of a foreign power.’’

Campus’ top team heads to Virginia

The West Virginia women’s soccer team heads to Blacksburg today for a match against Virginia Tech. A win would give the Mountaineers 15 wins, which is tops in Division I.
