As the ashes settle in Morgantown, the backlash is in. The Mountaineers won an amazing game, and Morgantown went to hell in flames, at least for a few minutes.

Ministers’ meeting under consideration

WASHINGTON (AP) — Despite Israel’s skepticism and a fresh burst of Palestinian terror, the Bush administration is considering a conference of top U.S., U.N., Russian and European Union ministers within the next two months.
The aim is to develop details of a roadmap for peacemaking and for change within the Palestinian leadership. By 2005, there would be a Palestinian state on West Bank and Gaza land now held by Israel.

Convocation is almost here

University Coordinator of Events Eloise Tomei has some instructions for students participating in convocation this year.
Students will need to report to the upper-level lobby over the Red Gate entrance, dressed in cap and gown promptly at 5 p.m. to be lined up. Caps and gowns may be purchased at the WVU Bookstore and at the Book Exchange.

Celebrating win is fine, but not at the expense of safety
bout 12:30 a.m. Thursday morning, a 7-foot-tall bonfire burned brightly on Richwood Avenue behind Dairy Mart. 
The scene was particularly odd, considering only one police cruiser, with its lights flashing, and only one officer were on the scene.

First Listening: Canyon

Think ambience: A dimly lit room, maybe candles scattered about – the scene evoking either sleep, contemplation or both.
Bands like Canyon were made to be the filler music for such settings. As their name implies, they are the kind of band who musically creates an  abyss that you unavoidably fall into when listening to them. But once you find yourself in their world, you quickly learn that it’s not that bad of a place to be.

New-look team facing low expectations

Coming off one of the worst seasons in school history, the West Virginia University men’s basketball team begins its 2002-2003 season tonight against Delaware State.
Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Coliseum.
