Indonesia acknowledges active al-Qaida presence 

BALI, Indonesia (AP) — Indonesia’s government, reeling from a bomb attack that killed at least 180 people, acknowledged for the first time Monday that al-Qaida is active on its soil — setting the stage for a possible crackdown on extremists.

Greeks sponsor blood drive
West Virginia University’s greek community is sponsoring a blood drive Wednesday from noon to 6 p.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, which is located on the corner of High and Willey streets.
Fraternity and sorority members are encouraged to participate, along with the WVU and Morgantown community.

The man who has devoted his life to humanitarian work was awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace on Friday for his "untiring effort to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development."

Rules of Attraction succeeds, despite plot gaps

The Rules of Attraction is not a teen movie. While its main character is played by James Van Der Beek, it is nothing like “Dawson’s Creek.” While it contains graphic and sometimes funny sexual content, it bears no resemblance to American Pie. In fact, it’s nothing like anything you’ll see in mainstream cinema or television. It’s a highly stylized, beautifully executed piece of art.  Not to say the film is flawless — there are plenty of plot holes — but the camera work, editing, and acting make up for these troubles.
