Iraq accepts U.N. resolution two days ahead of deadline

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — Claiming Iraq was seeking the ‘‘path of peace,’’ Saddam Hussein’s government agreed Wednesday to the return of international weapons inspectors, accepting a stringent U.N. resolution two days ahead of a deadline.

Attorney general, PEIA sue Merck over rebates

CHARLESTON (AP) — A subsidiary of drug giant Merck pocketed more than $6 million meant for West Virginia even though it had been hired to help the state save money on prescription costs, a lawsuit filed Wednesday alleges.
Merck-Medco cost the state millions more by steering people covered by the Public Employees Insurance Agency to expensive, Merck-made drugs, the Kanawha Circuit Court filing said.

he United Nations Security Council unanimously passed a resolution last week aiming to disarm Iraq of all weapons of mass destruction. The resolution allows seven days for Iraq to pledge cooperation with weapons inspectors. Within 30 days Iraq must reveal any facility that can be used to produce weapons of mass destruction, and within 45 days the weapons inspectors must be allowed to resume inspection.
