Spring marks the arrival of budding trees, sprouting wildflowers and the emergence of a wide variety of birds with their beautiful melodies. The Mountaineer Audubon Society has formed a 15-year-old tradition of appreciating spring with its annual birdwalks at the Core Arboretum.

At least 4 killed in explosion near Afghan defense minister

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — A bomb tore through a crowd lining a road to welcome Afghanistan’s defense minister on Monday, killing at least four people and injuring 18 in what officials said was another attempt to destabilize the interim government.

Lacrosse team beats Grove City and Pitt

The West Virginia lacrosse team swept a pair of weekend games to improve to 3-3 on the season. 
The Mountaineers knocked off Grove City on Friday night by a score of 9-6. The WVU offense was led by the play of Pat Rose, who tallied three goals in the winning effort. Other notables were Mohammed Hashem, who scored two goals, and Rick Miller, who added a goal and two assists.
