Discredited chemist dies at 52

CHARLESTON (AP) — Fred Zain, a former West Virginia State Police chemist whose discredited work resulted in the payment of millions of dollars to wrongfully convicted defendants, has died at the age of 52.
Zain, head of the State Police chemistry lab during 1986-89, died Monday at his home in Ormond Beach, Fla., his lawyer, Tom Smith of Charleston, said Tuesday. Zain was suffering from colon cancer.

Try to take some time away from studying so you don’t go medieval on everyone
s students (like all other West Virginia University students) going through the stress of finals and a dead week that’s only described that way because most students want to kill themselves, we understand the need to vent and let off a little steam.
However, there are extremes when venting frustration. Take the recent case of five students at the University of Pennsylvania, who were charged this week after they “roughed up” a Princeton University student on the debate team that was visiting Philadelphia, according to CNN.com.
