Fund established for Pallicala

The Indian Student Association is raising funds for Ram Chaitanya Pallicala, who died Saturday while trying to rescue his friend, Madhavi Alapati, who fell into Decker’s Creek. The donations will help defray the costs of Pallicala’s funeral and the transportation of his body to India, as well as covering Alapati’s medical bills. Alapati remains in grave condition at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

CIBECUE, Ariz. (AP) — Travis Duryea has noticed an undercurrent of fear among the White Mountain Apaches since a member of the tribe was accused of starting a huge forest fire.

Hansbarger named dean of Charleston division

Dr. L. Clark Hansbarger has been named the dean of WVU’s Charleston Division and appointed associate vice president for Health Sciences. He is coming to WVU from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine where he served as an associate professor of Pediatrics and Dean of Graduate Medical Education.
For Hansbarger, taking this position at WVU is a homecoming. From 1981 to 1985, he served as the director of the West Virginia Department of Health.
A native of Welch, W.Va., he said that his decision to return came in two parts. “Although returning home was a part of it, I was inspired by the scope of the job and the wonderful track record of medical education and service in West Virginia.

Local emcees on MTV

For the past three years, local hip-hop group 304 Reconz has provided Morgantown with its fair share of infectious rhymes and digable beats. The Reconz, which have been together since 1999, have become a familiar name in many of the local bars that host musical acts and also have been garnering air time from local radio stations U-92, WVAQ and WCLG in the recent months.
