Trooper cleared in shooting; man shot recovering well

MARTINSBURG (AP) — A Philadelphia man shot by State Police after he refused to surrender has been transferred back to a West Virginia hospital.
Shimek Seabrook, 25, was listed in good condition Monday after being transferred to Martinsburg City Hospital from Inova Fairfax Hospital in Virginia.
Seabrook was shot in the shoulder and leg March 13 after he tried to escape from two State Police troopers at a Martinsburg apartment complex. Troopers were on routine patrol when they spotted what they thought was a drug deal.
As they approached a crowd, Seabrook allegedly fired shots into the crowd. Troopers gave chase and shot Seabrook after he ran into a laundry room and tried to climb out a window.
Senior Trooper John Droppleman, who shot Seabrook, was placed on administrative leave after the shooting. He has been returned to duty, State Police Sgt. T.C. Krisik said Sunday.
Police said they found heroin, cocaine and marijuana two handguns on Seabrook. Seabrook has not been charged.
