Cell fees help save lives

In West Virginia, seat belts are not the only marvel of modern technology that save lives. Cellular phones are helping spread 911 service throughout the state.
“Only four counties now don’t have 911, down from 10 in 1997,” said Ron Kyle, of the Monongalia Office of Emergency Management (MECCA 911).

Followers tackled tough issues in order to educate the audience

On Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2000, West Virginia University got a first look at Followers, an independent film written, directed and coproduced by Jonathan Flicker and co-produced by Dennis Gossett. This film won the Spirit of Independent’s Award in the St. Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival against 150 other films.
