Outstanding Opera
The Marriage of Figaro provides surprising entertainment

Last Friday it was time for me to get a little culture. I decided to see what the opera was all about. The WVU Opera Department, headed by Robert Thieme, performed The Marriage of Figaro. This is a famous comedic opera written by Mozart and translated into English. Performances at the University are mostly to give students experience singing and to build a local audience for opera. I for one was a lot more willing to give opera a chance since it didn’t set me back fifty bucks, and it was actually pretty enjoyable too.
